Training and development policy.
How we support educators and staff to maintain qualifications and develop professionally.
Aim
This policy has been formulated to ensure that staff are continually developing both professionally and personally.
We endeavour to employ caring, loyal, and capable educators who bring a high skill level, appropriate qualifications, and a wide and varying number of experiences to help implement our service's philosophy.
Reason
With development of knowledge and abilities the Centre's body of expertise will grow and the program provided for children will be of the highest quality.
Procedure: -
Our aim is for each staff member to attend no less than one training and development course each year.
Course choices will be made at staff meetings via discussion with the Director and appropriateness of the inservice to the Centre and staff.
The Centre's strengths and weaknesses will be considered in choices made for courses as well as individual staff member's abilities and areas of improvement.
The Centre realises that training and development programs are to develop skills and knowledge and therefore encourage changing in teaching style and program development. To ensure the maximum benefit from courses staff members will be required to give a report of the course and inform other staff of new ideas and methods learnt at the following staff meeting.
Information gained from training and development courses will be shared among Eikoh Centres.
Support from both staff and management will be given to ensure that newly acquired knowledge, skills and approaches to inservice courses is being implemented and maintained.
Our centre will actively celebrate the diverse skills and achievements of our educators using the following methods:
The Nominated Supervisor will use staff meetings as an opportunity to provide verbal feedback to all educators.
Regular verbal communication and appraisal will occur from the Nominated Supervisor and Room Leaders with all educators.
Positive reinforcement of the achievements of educators will be shared with families and the centre community through notices and the centre App.
Our centre will inform the centre community about the professional development, training, and qualifications of educators throughout their time at the service.
Early childhood teachers will provide evidence of their teacher accreditation status from NESA and will demonstrate that they are working towards maintaining proficient teacher status. For Early childhood teachers who are considered conditional or provisional support will be provided to them as they work towards proficient teacher status.
