Quality Area: 7.1.2 - Management systems - Systems are in place to manage risk and enable the effective management and operation of a quality service.

Statement

This code of conduct outlines for parents, guardians, extended family members and visitors the services expectations to ensure that everyone who visits the Early Childcare Education site is able to do so in a safe and harmonious manner and to ensure that students, staff, parents, and other visitors are not subjected to aggressive, intimidating, demeaning, or hostile behaviours.

Rationale

This policy will provide guidelines to promote desirable and appropriate behaviour that meets the service expectations that interactions between Staff members, children and adults are respectful. Eikoh Seminar Australia have a duty of care as an Approved Provider of an early childcare setting to provide an open, welcoming, and safe environment for all children and staff. We believe that all parents/guardians, family members and visitors are an essential part of the operation of our service.

This Code applies to all parents, carers, guardians, authorised contacts, visitors, and family members of children enrolled at the service. The Code must be observed during all events and everyday operations of the service, extending to drop off and pick of children daily.

Implementation

The service deems respectful interactions as

  • Warm greeting, a calm tone and being considerate

  • In the case where parents need to pass on information about their child, can be done through written or face to face communication. Please consider the educators are supervising other children so concise meaningful interactions as necessary so educators are still able to supervise children effectively.

  • The service has Grievance procedures in place should a parent have a concern about another family’s child’s behaviour, parent, or staff member.

  • The service will not tolerate a parent disciplining another child, staff member or visitor at the service.

Conduct that the service deems offensive and inappropriate in their childcare setting are...

When a parent, family member or guardian exhibits

  • disrespectable behaviour

  • threatens physical or intimidating actions.

  • uses behaviour, that maybe defined as bullying, display offensive and degrading language.

  • negative networking regarding the Centre on social media sights or in social settings.

  • Breach of the Conduct may result in the suspension or cancellation of family’s enrolment, or the parent may be banned from entering the service for a specific time frame.

  • The authorities Eg; Police may be contacted if the service deems behaviour is impacting them providing a safe environment for employees and children.

Process of steps to be taken by Parents, guardians, visitors, or family members ....

  • Raise concerns with the responsible person of the Centre.

  • A grievance form will be given for you to complete so an investigation can be carried out. Full confidentiality is expected from all parties concerned. The centre does not act on hearsay.

  • You may be asked to attend meetings during the investigation and kept up to date regarding outcome and any further steps to be taken if necessary.

Policy Review
  • The Service will review ‘Parent, Guardians Family and Visitors Code of guidelines Conduct Policy ‘every 12 months or when deemed necessary prior to the 12 months.

  • Families are encouraged to collaborate with the service to review policies and procedures.

  • Educators/Carers are essential stake holders in the policy review process and will be encouraged to be actively involved.
